A NATO-hadgyakorlatok az évek során jelentős szerepet töltöttek be a Szövetség védelmi stratégiájában, biztosítva a tagállamoknak összehangolt katonai műveletek gyakorlását. A Steadfast Defender 2024 (Állhatatos Védő 2024) a NATO hidegháború utáni történetének legnagyobb és legösszetettebb hadgyakorlata volt, 90 ezer katona, 50 haditengerészeti egység, 80 repülőgép és 1100 harcjármű részvételével. A kiképzési rendezvény a regionális katonai biztonsági kihívásokra adott válaszként a kollektív védelem és a modern hadviselési eljárások tesztje volt; nem csupán a hagyományos szárazföldi, légi és tengeri műveletekre fókuszált, hanem kiemelt figyelmet fordított a parancsnoksági, logisztikai és kommunikációs rendszerek integrálására is, így hozzájárult a NATO 2022-es stratégiai koncepciójának gyakorlati teszteléséhez és finomhangolásához.
