A HONVÉDSÉGI SZEMLE – HUNGARIAN DEFENCE REVIEW KÖZLÉSI FELTÉTELEI

A folyóirat lehetőséget biztosít a rovatoknál megnevezett témakörökben, maximum egy szerzői ív terjedelmű (40 000 leütés szóközökkel, a jegyzeteket és az esetleges illusztrációkat is beleszámítva) tanulmányok, szakcikkek megjelentetésére. A beküldött írásokat szakmailag lektoráltatjuk. A Szerkesztőség fenntartja a jogot a kéziratok – a magyar helyesírás szabályainak megfelelő – stilizálására, korrigálására és tipografizálására. A tervezett megjelenésről igazolást a Szerkesztőség csak abban az esetben ad ki, ha a Szerkesztőbizottság – a támogató lektori véleményre támaszkodva – a közlés mellett foglal állást. A tanulmány elfogadását követően a folyóirat kiadásában közreműködő HM Zrínyi Nonprofit Kft. a szerzővel szerződést köt, amely szabályozza a kiadással és a szerzői jogokkal kapcsolatos kérdéseket.

Folyóiratunk zökkenőmentes szerkesztése – az MTA által meghatározott követelményeknek való megfelelés – érdekében a szerzőktől az alábbiakat kérjük:

• A közleményeket elektronikus levél mellékleteként (Microsoft Word .doc- vagy .docx-formátumban) szíveskedjenek eljuttatni a Szerkesztőségnek (havasi.mate@hmzrinyi.hu).
• A szöveg elején szerepeljen az egy bekezdéses (kb. 800–1110 leütéses) összefoglaló (absztrakt) magyar és angol nyelven, illetve a kulcsszavak (ideálisan 5, maximálisan 10), szintén magyarul és angolul. Az összefoglaló E/3 személyben íródjon, vagyis személyes hangvételű részek ne szerepeljenek benne, illetve ne egyezzen meg a fő szövegben olvasható bevezetővel.
• Az összefoglaló után tüntessék fel nevüket, rendfokozatukat, beosztásukat (foglalkozásukat), intézményüket, tudományos fokozatukat és elérhetőségüket (e-mail-cím, telefonszám), illetve ORCID- és MTMT-kódjukat. Ez utóbbiak ma már mindenképpen szükségesek ahhoz, hogy a művek az MTMT-ben és a Real Repozitóriumban elektronikus formában szerepelhessenek.
• A közcímeket lássák el szintjüknek megfelelő, zárójeles jelzéssel (K1, K2, K3), hogy az egyes szövegblokkok alárendeltségét egyértelműsítsék a szerkesztők és a tördelők számára. Legfeljebb három címfokozat legyen.
• Amennyiben mondanivalójukat ábrákkal (térkép részletekkel, grafikonokkal, táblázatokkal stb.) kívánják szemléltetni, azt magyar nyelvű illusztrációkkal tegyék. Ha ez nem lehetséges, akkor a lefordított ábraszöveget mellékeljék. Folyóiratunk fekete-fehér megjelenésű, ezért ennek megfelelően készítsék el az ábrákat, lehetőleg egyszerű, vonalas formában, olvasható feliratozással. Az illusztrációkat külön csatolva is küldjék el, szerkeszthető (jpg, tiff) formátumban, 300 dpi-s felbontásban, min. 1600 pixeles szélességben. Az íráshoz csatoljanak számozott képaláírást, amelyben az ábra (táblázat) címe mellett tüntessék fel annak készítőjét, forrását, internetes hivatkozásnál a letöltés időpontját.
• Fotóillusztrációt csak különösen indokolt esetben közlünk. Ez esetben is ügyeljenek a megfelelő nagyságú felbontásra (300 dpi) és méretre (min. 1600 pixel szélesség), illetve az ábrákhoz hasonlóan jelöljék meg a kép forrását.
• Folyóiratunk (a Fórum és Szemle rovataink kivételével) csak tudományos igényességgel elkészített, a felhasznált irodalom feltüntetésével, illetve megfelelő hivatkozásokkal ellátott, első közlésű írásokat publikál. Tudományos jellegű cikkeinket DOI-azonosítóval is ellátjuk, s ezeket a lap megjelenése után feltöltjük az MTMT-be. Kérjük, hogy senki ne töltse fel ide cikkét magánúton, ez ugyanis fennakadáshoz vezethet. Amennyiben valamilyen okból a feltöltés halaszthatatlanul sürgős, kérjük, jelezzék a szerkesztőségnek.

Lábjegyzetek

A felhasznált irodalomra való hivatkozás az adott oldalon, tipográfiai kiemelések (például kurziválás) nélkül, lábjegyzetként (és ne végjegyzetként) történjen, a hivatkozás oldalszámának megjelölésével. Szintén a lábjegyzetben szerepeljenek a magyarázó, kiegészítő információk.

Ha a szöveg egy adott pontján több forrásmunkára kell hivatkozni, akkor a bokrosítás elkerülése végett csak egy felsőindexes szám szerepeljen ott, és a hozzá kapcsolódó lábjegyzeten belül szerepeltessük a műveket, pontosvesszővel ellátva.

Felhasznált irodalom

A Felhasznált irodalom jegyzékét a tanulmány végén, ábécérendben (a szerző vezetékneve kezdőbetűjének figyelembevételével) kérjük elhelyezni. Amennyiben egy cikk rendelkezik DOI-azonosítóval is, azt a bibliográfiai adatok megadása után kérjük feltüntetni. A felhasznált irodalomra vonatkozó szerkesztőségi alapszabály, hogy csak olyan forrás szerepeljen a Felhasznált irodalom jegyzékében, amelyre a szerző a törzsszövegben hivatkozik, és amely szerepel a lábjegyzetben is.

Egyéb megjegyzések

• A négy számjegynél hosszabb számoknál a CTRLSHIFT-SPACE (nem törő) szóközt alkalmazzuk, ne pedig a sima szóközt vagy a pontot; pl. 430 000. (A négyszámjegyű számoknál erre nincs szükség.) Ugyanígy érdemes eljárni a rövidített összetételeknél (pl. „m. kir.” v. „D. C.”).
• Az idézőjelek esetében a magyar változatot használjuk („…”), ne pedig az angol (“…”; ‘…’; '…') verziókat. Belső idézőjelet (»…«) használjunk az idézett szövegen belüli idézőjeles részhez.
• Ha zárójeles részen (…) belül is szükségünk van zárójelre, akkor a szögletes zárójelet […] alkalmazzuk ott.

A hivatkozási formáknak, kérjük, a legutóbbi szám végén közölt táblázatban nézzenek utána.

Guidelines for Authors

Conditions for publication in the Hungarian Defence Review

The Hungarian Defence Review is the English language special edition of Honvédségi Szemle, the flagship professional journal of the Hungarian Defence Forces. It provides an opportunity to publish papers on subjects that match the various sections. The maximum length of papers is 40,000 characters, including notes and the captions of figures and tables. The submissions are subject to double blind peer review. The Editorial Board reserves the right to apply such corrections to the grammar, composition, and style of submissions as will not change the author’s original intent.

The Editorial Board issues a certificate of acceptance only if the Editorial Board – relying on the reviewers’ recommendation – decides in favour of publishing the submission. In order to allow an orderly editorial process – and to comply with the requirements set by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences – the authors are requested to comply with the following:

• Send the manuscript as an attachment to electronic mail (in Microsoft Word .doc or .docx format) to the Editorial Office (hdr@hmzrinyi.hu).
• At the beginning of the document, state your name, rank, position (occupation), institution, academic degree, and contact details (e-mail address, phone number). If you want your paper to be included in the Hungarian depository of scientific papers, provide your ORCID number, as well as the MTMT code, if any. This information is absolutely necessary in order for the work to be included in the Hungarian MTMT and the Real Repository in electronic format.
• Place a one-paragraph abstract (approx. 800–1,110 characters), as well as three to five keywords at the beginning of the text. The abstract should be written in the third person, i.e., without personal references, and it should not duplicate the introduction in the main text.
• In order to clarify the level of the various chapters and subchapters, their titles should be supplemented by parenthetical codes (K1, K2, K3) corresponding to the appropriate level. There should be no more than three levels.
• If figures (maps, graphs, drawings) or tables are used to illustrate the narrative, these should be in English. If this is not possible, the translated graphic text should be included. The journal is printed in black-and-white and grayscale. The figures should be prepared accordingly, preferably as simple line drawings with legible captions. The illustrations should also be submitted as separate attachments, in editable (jpg, tiff) format, with a resolution of 300 dpi, min. 2000 pixels wide. Figures and tables should be numbered, with captions that, in addition to the title of the figure or table, indicate the author or source and the date of download if it was downloaded from the internet.
• Photo illustrations are accepted only in particularly justified cases. In this case, also make sure that the resolution is of the right size (300 dpi) and indicate the source of the image as in the case of figures.
• With the exception of the Forum and Review sections, the journal publishes only original, unpublished works prepared in accordance with scientific standards, with the cited source literature referenced and listed appropriately.
• The editors assign DOI identifiers to the papers and upload them to the MTMT after their publication. Please do not upload your paper yourself, as this may lead to disruption. If for some reason it is urgent that the paper be uploaded, please let the editors know.

Style and formatting

Use 12-point Times New Roman font in the body of the manuscript and 10-point Times New Roman in the footnotes.

Use 1.5 line spacing and 8-point spacing after each paragraph instead of indenting the first line.

The preferred spelling is UK English, however, other spelling is also accepted, as long as it is consistent throughout the text. However, when quoting a source exactly, use the spelling in the original text. Dates may be written with numbers, in the order appropriate for the regional English spelling the author selected (UK, USA, Indian, etc., e.g., 03.01.2014). However, in order to avoid confusion, it is preferable to spell out the month or use its three-letter abbreviation. Words and expressions not commonly used outside a particular region or country should be explained in parenthesis or a footnote.

Use double quotation marks (“…”) when quoting a source exactly. Use single quotation marks (‘…’) for quotations within a quotation. Long quotations are discouraged. To shorten quotations, omit unnecessary words and phrases. Use ellipsis (…) to indicate places where text was omitted. When the quoted text is longer than two lines in the manuscript, it should be italicised, formatted as a separate paragraph, and given wider margins than the body of the text.

Spell out whole numbers under 11. For numbers longer than three digits, use a comma to separate the thousands, millions, etc.: 1,000, 100,000, etc. Do not use the Indian numbering system of laks and crores. Use a period to indicate decimals: 0.2, 123.21, etc. When a number identifies a military unit, the particular model of a vehicle or other equipment, a city district, etc., use the original format: XVIII Airborne Corps, 82^nd Airborne division, 2^e REP, M777 howitzer.

The first in-text reference to an abbreviation must be written out in parentheses. If the abbreviation is that of a phrase in a language other than English, then provide the translation in parentheses as well:  MPLA (Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola – People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola).

Subdivide the manuscript into logical units and give each section a short title. Do not go overboard with the subdivisions: more than two levels of subdivision is discouraged.

Bulleted lists are acceptable where appropriate.

Footnotes

References to the source literature should be made on the page where the work is cited, without typographic highlights (for example, italics), as a footnote (and not as an endnote), indicating the page number (if necessary).

If more than one source work must be cited at a given point in the text, only one superscript number should be used, and the works should be included in a single footnote, separated by semicolons.

Explanatory and additional information should also be placed in the footnotes.

Literature used

Place the list of the source literature at the end of the paper in alphabetical order, in accordance with the first letter of the author’s last name. If a source also has a DOI identifier, please indicate it after entering the bibliographic data. Include only such works in the list as are referenced in the main text and are listed in the footnotes. Do not include sources that were consulted but are not quoted in the manuscript.

If a referenced source was published in a language that uses a non-Latin script (Arabic, Russian, etc.), the author must transcribe all bibliographic data in the reference into Latin script.

It is recommended (although not mandatory) to provide a translation in parentheses of the titles of referenced works written in languages other than English.
