Abstract

The 1941 operation of the Royal Hungarian Army against the Soviet Union was part of the German Operation Barbarossa. Two (armored) reconnaissance battalions were active in the organization of the Royal Hungarian I. Rapid Corps, which was put into battle there and was subordinated to the Germans. The activities of the troops were characterized by pursuit and a dynamic push towards the East over hundreds of kilometers. The first part of the series recalls the events between June 22 and July 9, 1941.
