In the beginning of the 20th century reciprocating engines already operated more and more reliably and with acceptable efficiency. The principle of a heat engine, based on Bryton or Joule cycle, had also been known since the end of 18th century, but the theory initially far surpassed the practice. Finally, by the end of 1930s the gas turbine had been matured. This paper presents this process and theoretically support why the born of gas turbines was so hard.
