Abstract

The Arctic region has become more and more valued in recent years. The global warming that has taken place in recent decades has greatly contributed to the region receiving more international attention. Many countries are interested in the mineral resources
hidden under the ice and want to acquire a share, but not only the extraction of crude oil/natural gas can be a challenge for the states, but also the securing and control of the northern shipping routes. Great powers such as the United States of America, Canada, and the Russian Federation appeared, who, as northern states, want to gain more influence in the region, thus the region can be imagined as an arena for geopolitical games.
