The international literature of aviation history refers to the aircraft marked J.31 and J.32 produced by the Austrian Phönix aircraft factory as the only examples of the Phönix D.III type delivered to the Austro-Hungarian Navy. However, the planes described as coastguard fighters with a special spare tank took a completely different route and got to Hungary, where their short career ended.
