Abstract

ABSTRACT: The Hungarian Defence Forces in the recent years has shown
strong commitment to modernizing its forces including military equipment.
Within the equipment modernization air force assets enjoy prime focus
among which air mobility, being key enabler for operations both homeland
and abroad, is found in the centre of attention recently. Satisfying the need
for modern tactical air transport capability Brazilian Embraer Company was
awarded a contract to deliver two KC-390 state of the art military transport
aircraft and related logistics and training services. The delivery is planned to
be completed in 2024. In this essay authors are aiming at introducing the
relevance, the expected capabilities and the roles of the newly procured
equipment, also giving a little bit of insight of the history of air transport capabilities in Hungarian Defence Forces and its predecessor.
