Abstract

In the increasingly common field of asymmetric warfare, in which special operations forces play an important role, mission execution often takes place in difficult terrain and in locations where it is not possible to establish an adequate military logistics chain. In such cases, forces have to rely on local resources, which encourages manufacturers to produce vehicles with components compatible with the some civilian vehicles. The Rheinmetall-led Caracal air-transportable vehicle offers an alternative to these important considerations.
