The current NATO wide area network faces challenges in terms of network management, information security and counter-cyber operations, among others. Being supported by the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), one of the most important tasks of this decade is to renew, redesign and reorganise the existing classified network domain in support of efficient C2 for current and future military operations. In his scientific article, the author provides a short historical background to NCIA’s efforts
to create of a more resilient classified domain-net and the needs of core and functional services within the Alliance in order to introduce an already decided, viable solution for classified network enhancements in static and deployable domains.
