Simulation and artificial intelligence [AI] have undergone a huge development in the past decade opening new horizons for defense and security related applications. Formerly simulation was mainly used in training applications, but with scaling up the number of entities and the fidelity, it can be used to simulate more and more complex scenarios. Next generation weapon systems can not be developed without simulated synthetic environments, and those will also reform operations and decision making. This paper
discusses the potential use of AI and simulation in defense applications.
