Col Imre Porkoláb PhD

Col Imre Porkoláb PhD pursued his higher education studies at the 270 year-old Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) among others, and he earned his post-graduate degrees at military and civil universities in Hungary and the United States. In 2003 he completed an operational tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and then he was directing the development of the Hungarian Special Operational Forces (SOF) capabilities. He was also serving in SOF operational role in Afghanistan, followed by an assignment as the commander of the 34th Special Forces Battalion. From July 2011 he served in the USA, at the NATO Allied Command Transformation as the head of the Hungarian Defence Forces National Liaison Representation, followed by another NATO tour as Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) Representative to the Pentagon. His duties included liaison with the US Joint Staff, the Department of Defence and Think Tanks in the Washington DC area.

During his stay in the USA, he completed the course for Senior Executives at the Harvard University, and obtained a Corporate Innovation LEAD Certificate at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

On his return from 2018, he had been directing the transformation work on the area of the HDF’s innovation as the Deputy National Armament Director for Defence Innovation Research and Development. He currently directs the Leadership Programme at Mathias Corvinus Collegium.

He is an expert in the guerrilla and counter-terrorism warfare, and his research areas include unconventional leadership, change-management in a VUCA context, innovative methods of organisational transformation, and the applicability thereof in the business world.  He is an accomplished international speaker, and writer. His first book titled “Szolgálj, hogy vezethess!” was published in 2016, his second book, “A stratégia művészete” came out in 2019.
